In collaboration with the Sunni Endowments Directorate and the Department of Religious Affairs within the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs, and Endowments, Discover Islam extended an invitation to numerous tourists and tour guides for the preliminary opening of Al-Fadhel Mosque in Manama to tourists, inviting them to explore the rich tapestry of Islamic civilization.
The visitors expressed profound admiration for the mosque’s exquisite design, especially its distinctive minaret, and its advantageous proximity to the bustling market area, which renders a visit to this locale a comprehensive and enriching experience.
Al-Fadhel Mosque stands as one of Bahrain’s most venerable mosques, with a history spanning approximately 240 years. Situated in the Al-Fadhel neighborhood of Manama, it has undergone several reconstructions. Initially, it was without a minaret, with the first one being erected in 1357 AH. The current architectural splendor of Al-Fadhel Mosque harmoniously blends several Islamic architectural styles in its recent embellishments. Gazing upon its minaret evokes a sense of the facade’s venerable past, leaving one in awe of its elegant and lofty construction. Externally, the mosque presents a rectangular form with five entrances: two gracing its façade, one adorning its right side, and two others on the left. Each entrance is crowned by a small semi-spherical dome adorned with prominent decorations forming an Islamic band. These bands commence wide at the dome’s base and converge at a central point above. Flanking each entrance are paired columns with plaster capitals embellished with small muqarnas.
It Is noteworthy that Discover Islam places significant emphasis on acquainting tourists with the essence of Islam, building upon the successful experience at the Ahmed Al-Fateh Islamic Center Mosque in recent years. This success has spurred the organizers to develop a specialized training program dedicated to welcoming tourists to mosques and addressing their inquiries with grace and insight.
